Taking Political Action (2000-present)
Women’s Peace Camp… (1983-1987)
The women’s peace camp in upstate NY was established in the summer of 1983 to oppose the nato-bound cruise missiles and other weapons being stored in a rural community near Seneca Lake. The encampment’s demonstrations made national headlines when the women and local residents clashed over their differing value systems. I collected and edited photographs and narrative accounts of many women who joined the encampment and Temple University Press published “The Women’s Encampment for a Future of Peace and Justice” in 1987.
Power Line series… (1977-1979)
This series followed the three-year struggle by farmers living near the Canadian border of NY as they and their neighbors tried to stop construction of high voltage power lines from crossing their farmlands and fields. They blocked bulldozers from entering their lands and were jailed for their activism.

Strange and Beautiful Spaces
Landscapes are often pretty pictures, but sometimes, they are quirky or just unusual enough to make us look twice and wonder how they came to be.
